THE SONNET OF A HUSTLER

THE SONNET OF A HUSTLER

Bu Ladan Muthengi

My life is a mess,
My body is obese,
Am always under stress
And people can’t guess.

They kick my ass,
And hang me on cross,
Then subdue my voice
And claim it is noise.

They throw me like a dice,
And spit on my face,
Saying am full of vice
So not worthy a chance.

I lie on dry grass
And in shame I hide my face
And to God I take my case,
Asking for His grace.

I dream of a place,
Away from this base,
Where I can control the pace
And expand my space

Now have made my choice,
To pay the eternal price,
And seek divine solace
For the sake of peace.

Tomorrow they will call me an ace,
After I win this race,
And scoop my prize
Of coveted brass.
