On this land by Paul N. Mutua

On this land

Far away from home

I have found a home

In the charm and fertile heart

Of a tender soul

A native here….

On this land

I am at cross-roads-

I look left

I look right

I look left again

The native charm

Spreads her love

All these directions

Inviting me to stay…to live

I wish

And wish again

Wish to stay

In the love nest

Of my host

Here on this land….

But how?

How sad

For I am in chains

Forever,

In a love prison

Of the one known to all-

Daughter of my in-laws

Back home.
